On April 28, 2024, Consul General Somjai Taphaopong assigned Deputy Consul General Jiraporn Jiranantakij and Vice Consul Jittiya Boyd to represent her at the Thai New Year service held at the Chour-Thai Reformed Church in New York, marking the celebration of the Songkran Festival for the year 2024. At the event, members of the Thai community and guests of the Church participated in the service, a procession featuring Thai long drums, and a ceremony for pouring water over the hands of both Thai and local elders. Additionally, attendees also enjoyed beautiful Thai cultural performances. This event admirably continued and preserved the traditions and culture of Thailand, while also promoting the impressive image of the Thai community.
