On April 6, 2024, Consul General Somjai Taphaopong presided over the opening of the "Khantoke Dinner" event, held in celebration of the Songkran Festival of 2024. The event was organized by the Northern Thai Association of New York at Vajiradhammapadip Temple in Long Island, New York. The purpose of this gathering was to strengthen the relationships within the Thai community in New York City and nearby cities and to support social activities, including providing scholarships to students in the northern region of Thailand. Consul Katesuda Thongna also attended the event.
