Coordinating EEC–BCIU Cooperation for Investment Opportunity in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC)

     On August 21, 2025, Ms. Somjai Taphaopong, Consul General in New York, together with Dr. Cholachit Vorawangso Virakul, Assistant Secretary-General of the Eastern Economic Corridor Office (EECO), and representatives from EECO and the Department of International Economic Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, met with Ms. Meghan Hagberg, Senior Vice President of the Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU), and Mr. Fraser Leckie, Program Officer for East Asia and Pacific, at the BCIU office in New York.
 
     During the meeting, Consul General Somjai expressed appreciation to BCIU for warmly welcoming the EEC delegation, noting that the discussion provided a valuable opportunity to share information and explore future collaboration. Dr. Cholachit featured the potential and investment opportunities in the EEC- covering Chachoengsao, Chonburi, and Rayong provinces in Eastern of Thailand - aimed at the high-value manufacturing and services industries. The Thai side highlighted EEC’s strategic advantages, including its prime location in Thailand’s Eastern Seaboard and its infrastructure -such as deep-sea ports, airports, high-speed rail, and industrial zones, along with investment incentives, both tax and non-tax measures, for BCIU to share with its U.S. corporate members.
 
     Both sides also explored partnership opportunities to strengthen Thailand - U.S. economic cooperation. BCIU expressed readiness to support dialogues and bridge the engagements between leading U.S. businesses and the EEC to further promote investment opportunities.
