🌾Culinary Experience of Thai Rice by Michelin-Starred Chefs and Renowned Thai Restaurants in the U.S. ✨
On 7 May 2026, Ms. Somjai Taphaopong, Consul General of Thailand in New York, attended Thai Rice: A Journey Beyond Borders at Platform by the James Beard Foundation (Pier 57).
The event was organized by the Thai Trade Center, New York to highlight the diversity and versatility of Thai rice in global culinary creations.
More than 50 guests - including food writers, culinary influencers, importers, and food enthusiasts - enjoyed an exclusive full-course dining experience crafted by an exceptional lineup of chefs: Chef Noah Sandoval of the Michelin-starred Oriole in Chicago, Chef Neal Harden of New York’s renowned farm-to-table restaurant abcV, Chef Pithayakorn Panapoi of La Dong, pastry chef Oksana Chepoy of Washington D.C.’s acclaimed Thai restaurant FloreTyson, and Michelin-recognized mixologist and owner of Thai restaurant Chompon Bunnag of Mahaniyom in Boston.
Together, they redefined a variety of Thai rice into inventive dishes and beverages that beautifully interpreted Thailand’s culinary heritage while featuring the identity and versatility of Thai rice.
On this occasion, the Consul General expressed her appreciation to Thai Trade Center, New York, James Beard Foundation and all guests for their participation and support. She also highlighted the cultural significance of rice in Thai society and commended the chefs for their mastery and craftsmanship in elevating Thai rice from a local staple into a refined ingredients of culinary artistry on the international stage.
