“Engaging with Thai Students”

On May 1, 2026, H.E. Mr. Cherdchai Chaivaivid, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to the United Nations, and Ms. Somjai Taphaopong, Consul General of Thailand in New York, together with officials from Permanent Mission of Thailand to the United Nations, the Royal Thai Consulate-General and Team Thailand, attended the Columbia Thai Reception. The reception was organized by the Columbia University Thai Club in New York City. This event served as an annual gathering to foster connections and share experiences among current Thai students and alumni. This year, the event welcomed approximately 100 – 150 attendees.

On this occasion, after an opening remark by H.E. Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to the United Nations, Consul General briefly introduced the key missions of the Royal Thai Consulate-General, in particular registration of Thai citizen abroad, supporting the activities of Thai students. She emphasized the importance of engaging with

Thai student to build closer collaboration between the Consulate-General and Thai students, which is part of the consular services in assisting and protecting Thai citizen abroad.
