“1st Voluntary Consuls Workshop”

On Wednesday, April 29, 2026, the Royal Thai Consulate-General in New York organized "1st Voluntary Consuls Workshop” at Sheraton LaGuardia East Hotel, New York City. On this occasion, Ms. Somjai Taphaopong, Consul General, delivered opening remarks to welcome and express her appreciation to voluntary consuls, emphasizing the importance of voluntary consuls’ contribution in supporting the Consulate’s mission to assist and protect Thai citizen abroad.  The workshop began with briefing on consular services by Ms. Thammajit Thitimontre, consul, and Mr. Nipon Kamyo, consulate’s officer and followed by a session for voluntary consuls to exchange views and experiences with each other and Q&A.  In addition, the workshop was honored to have Ms. Tammy Sumontha, Managing Attorney at Law Office of Tammy Sumontha, as a guest speaker to give a talk on basic immigration law and particularly on the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

This initiative aims to equip our voluntary consuls with essential information and a better understanding of the consular services, which is a key mission of the Consulate-General in engaging with Thai communities, and upholding the Ministry of Foreign Affairs motto “People Diplomacy, Everywhere we care” while to strengthen connection among voluntary consuls and Thai communities in each state, reflecting the unity which will greatly contribute to the Consulate’s efficient consular services.
