On 9 December 2025, Ms. Somjai Taphaopong, Consul-General of Thailand in New York, was invited by Ms. Cherelyn Lom, Executive Director of Lomografia New York, to visit the photography exhibition “Out of Frame,” which features photographs related to Thailand. The exhibition showcases the work of Mr. David Lom, a journalist and photojournalist with NBC News, and is currently on display at Broome St. Gallery in SoHo, New York. The Consul-General was warmly welcomed by Mr. John Sfingopoulos and Mr. Antony Sfingopoulos, owners of the gallery.
During the visit, the Consul-General exchanged views on photography as an artistic medium that reflects culture and the everyday lives of people around the world. She also shared information about the Consulate’s ongoing efforts to support emerging Thai artists in New York through a variety of cultural initiatives. Both sides explored potential opportunities for future collaboration to further connect Thai artists with international artistic networks—an area the Consulate places great value on and continues to actively promote.
The exhibition “Out of Frame” presents a collection of photographs capturing the daily lives of people in several countries, including Thailand, where David and Cherelyn lived for three years. The works highlight the beauty and simplicity of ordinary life and the emotional depth found in diverse corners of the world.
