     On July 30, 2023, Consul General Somjai Taphaopong presided over religious ceremonies commemorating the occasion of Asalha Puja Day, the beginning of Buddhist Lent, and the 29th anniversary of the establishment of the Buddha Thai Thavorn Vanaram Temple in New York City. The ceremonies were attended by the Consulate's staff, along with a large number of Thai Buddhists. Consul General Somjai also took this opportunity to extend her warm greetings and address the Thai community upon the assumption of her duties.
     At the same event, Consul General Somjai also had the honor of witnessing the presentation of the New York State (NYS) Assembly Resolution celebrating Thai Songkran Festival, presented by Mr. Steven Raga, NYS Assembly Member, and Mr. Juttana Rimreartwate, President of the Thai Community USA NYC, to Buddha Thai Thavorn Vanaram Temple, recognizing its significance as a central hub for the Thai community in the area.
     The Consulate General also wishes to rejoice in everyone's merits on this auspicious occasion.
