Mobile Consular Services at Wat Pa Dhammaratana, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

On May 30–31, 2026, Miss Somjai Taphaopong, Consul General of Thailand in New York, accompanied by Consul Miss Thammajit Thitimontre and officers from the Royal Thai Consulate General, traveled to conduct a Mobile Consular Services activity at Wat Padhammaratna in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The initiative aimed to facilitate consular services for Thai nationals residing in Pittsburgh and nearby states within the consular jurisdiction. Services provided included passport applications, civil registration, legalization, as well as general consular consultations and inquiries. The mobile consular event was well received by the Thai community, with a steady stream of attendees seeking services throughout the two day period.

This mobile consular service also allowed the Royal Thai Consulate General to engage with the Thai community resides in states within its jurisdiction. Furthermore, it also provided an opportunity for Thai community to share their comments toward consular services in order to improve consular services to meet the community’s need.

On this occasion, on May 29, 2026, Miss Somjai Taphaopong, Consul General of Thailand in New York, along with Miss Thammajit Thitimontre Consul, and the consular staff, met with Thai students in Pittsburgh to ensure their well-being and establish a supportive network between the students and the Consulate General. Subsequently, on May 31, 2026, the Consul General presided over the annual Visakha Bucha Day 2026 at Wat Pa Dhammaratana. During the occasion, the Consul General paid respect to Phra Videsratanaporn               (Dr. Thanat Atthachari), the Abbot of Wat Pa Dhammaratana, and joined Thai and foreign Buddhist devotees in merit-making, offering food Alms, participating in the candle-lighting procession, and listening to Dhamma sermons to invoke blessings and sustain Thailand’s beautiful cultural traditions.
