On April 5, 2024 Consul General Somjai Taphaopong, together with Consul Katesuda Thongna, joined in a warm celebration on the occasion of the Songkran Festival in Thailand and the traditional New Year of several other Asian nations at Elmhurst-J.H. Senior Center in Queens, New York, organized in cooperation with the Thai Community USA NYC. Consul General Somjai took this opportunity to extend her best wishes and a happy new year while offering Thai tea and coconut cake to all participants, comprising Thai elders and elderly individuals from other nations residing in Elmhurst and nearby area.

 

     At the event, Consul General Somjai also met and expressed her appreciation to New York State Assembly member Steven Raga, Assembly District 30, for his presence and continuous support of activities engaging members of the Thai and Asian Communities residing in Woodside, Elmhurst, and Jackson Heights.
