On July 18, 2024, Miss Somjai Taphaopong, Consul General of Thailand in New York, together with Consul Katesuda Thongna, attended the awards ceremony of the global round of the “Copernicus Mathematics Olympiad” held at Columbia University in the city of New York.
This prestigious Olympiad is an international mathematics competition open to students worldwide from Grade 3 to Grade 12. This year, more than 300 students from 30 countries participated in the Global Round. Among these talents were 3 students from Thailand, with one earning a gold medal and two others achieving bronze medals.
At the awards ceremony, Consul General Somjai delivered a speech congratulating and admiring all the students for their excellence and dedication. She also extended her appreciation to the organizers for hosting such an inspiring activity and providing youths from various parts of the world with opportunities to form friendships through the pursuit of academic excellence. After that, her congratulations and admiration were also expressed to the Thai youths who received awards this time.
