On February 6, 2025, Ms. Somjai Taphaopong, Consul General of Thailand in New York, was invited to attend the Lunar New Year Celebration hosted by the New York City Mayor’s Office in collaboration with the Chinese-American community in New York City. The event took place at Surrogate’s Court in New York City.

     During the celebration, Mayor Eric Adams delivered a speech extending his New Year’s greetings to attendees. He also presented certificates of recognition to outstanding individuals who have made significant contributions to New York City and to those who supported the event.

     The celebration brought together representatives from various Asian-American communities, including the Thai community, as well as members of the foreign consular corps, from Asia in particular, highlighting the rich cultural diversity of New York City and the vibrant Asian communities residing in the metropolis.
