On 30 November 2025, the Royal Thai Consulate-General in New York, in collaboration with the Permanent Mission of Thailand to the United Nations in New York and Team Thailand agencies in New York, organized a ceremony on the auspicious occasion of the Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great, National Day, and Father’s Day, 5 December 2025, at the auditorium of the Thai Cultural Center of New York State. The event was attended by approximately 250 Thai nationals from New York and states within the Consulate’s jurisdiction.

The ceremony commenced with remarks by Ms. Somjai Taphaopong, Consul General of Thailand in New York, who delivered a tribute to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother and invited attendees to observe 93 seconds of silence, followed by a screening of a commemorative video honoring Her Majesty The Queen Mother’s royal contributions and lifelong dedication to the nation.

H.E. Mr. Cherdchai Chaivaivid, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to the United Nations in New York, then delivered opening remarks and paid homage to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great. He reflected on the significance of 5 December, His Majesty’s boundless benevolence, and the many royal initiatives that have uplifted the Thai people and earned global respect. He also emphasized the enduring importance of unity and harmony among the Thai people as a driving force in national development.

Following the remarks, participants joined in lighting candles in remembrance of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great and sang the Royal Anthem together as part of the “United in Loyalty” activity, expressing their steadfast devotion to the Nation, Religion, and Monarchy. Throughout the event, His Majesty’s royal compositions were played to honor his legacy.

During the second part of the ceremony, the Consulate-General invited nine monks from temples within the Consulate’s jurisdiction—Buddha Thai Thavorn Vanaram Temple, New York Dhammaram Temple, and Vajiradhammapadip Temple (Long Island)—to perform a Buddhist chanting ceremony. This was followed by the offering of robes, alms, and lunch to the monks by the Ambassador and his spouse, the Consul General, the Deputy Permanent Representative and his spouse, the Defense Attaché and his spouse, heads of Team Thailand agencies in New York, and Consulate officials.

This year’s ceremony was organized in a simple, graceful, and dignified manner, with strong support from the Thai Cultural Center of New York State, which provided the venue, assistance with preparations, and event coordination.

The event also received generous contributions from five Thai Select–certified restaurants, as well as Thai entrepreneurs in New York who provided orchids for the venue and souvenirs for all 250 participants. The collaboration and heartfelt dedication of Team Thailand officials, the Thai community, and volunteers highlighted the unity, love, and deep reverence that Thai people in the United States hold for the monarchy.
