"THAI NEXT 2026: New Perspectives on Thailand Through the Creativity of Thai Artists on the Global Stage"

On 17 May 2026, the Royal Thai Consulate General in New York organized “THAI NEXT 2026: When the Seeds Bloom” at The Foundry, Long Island City, New York. The event showcased works across multiple artistic disciplines by over 40 Thai and Thai-American artists in New York, reflecting contemporary interpretations of Thai identity shaped through their experiences
in the global creative industry. Approximately 900 guests attended throughout the day.

Held for the second consecutive year under Thailand’s soft power promotion initiative in the United States, THAI NEXT 2026 was organized in collaboration with Thai Theatre Foundation to provide a platform for Thai and Thai-American artists to present their works and expand their visibility within the U.S. arts and creative communities. The project also aimed to promote contemporary Thai creativity and foster new perspectives on Thailand through art and culture.

The program featured an Art Fair presenting visual arts, music, and performance art, alongside interactive workshops including embroidery using Thai silk supported by the Foundation for the Promotion of Supplementary Occupation and Related Techniques (SUPPORT Foundation or "Silapacheep" in Thai language) of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother and Thai orchid flower arrangement on corrugated paper. The Thai Marketplace offered Thai food, beverages, and creative products by Thai entrepreneurs in New York, together with booths by Team Thailand agencies. Visitors also enjoyed fruit and vegetable carving demonstrations, souvenir activities, and tourism-themed games and giveaways.

The evening reception welcomed approximately 180 guests from the arts and cultural sectors, diplomatic corps, media, influencers, and the wider community. The program included a tribute video honoring Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother, remarks by Mr. Keng S. Meateanuwat, Executive Director of the Thai Theatre Foundation, and opening remarks by Ms. Somjai Taphaopong, Consul General of Thailand in New York. The Consul General noted that the event also formed part of activities commemorating the 250th anniversary of America and the Declaration of Independence, while highlighting the creativity and cultural contributions of young Thai and Thai-American artists in the multicultural landscape of the United States.

The Consulate-General extends its appreciation to Team Thailand partners, including the Tourism Authority of Thailand, New York Office, and the Thai Trade Center New York, as well as the Thai Cultural Center of New York, Bangkok Bank New York Branch, the SUPPORT Foundation, Blooming Orchid, Wat Nawamintararachutis Boston, participating artists, and Thai businesses for their generous support in making the event a success.
