On May 30, 2024, Ms. Somjai Taphaopong Consul General of Thailand in New York, accompanied by Consul Katesuda Thongna, attended the 12th Annual Gala Dinner of the Thai-American Bar Association (TABA) at the Museum of Chinese in America in New York City. This was the first time such an annual event was held on the East Coast of the U.S., with the aim of serving as a platform for networking and professional exchange among lawyers. The event was attended by over 100 participants, including TABA members, lawyers, and legal professionals from various backgrounds, such as Thai, American, and others interested in the legal field. At the event, H.E. Mr. Suriya Chindawongse, Ambassador of Thailand to the U.S., delivered the opening remarks, while Consul General Somjai gave a welcome address, and Mr. Juttana Rimreartwate was invited to speak on behalf of the Thai Community USA NYC.

TABA exemplifies how international legal professionals can come together in the U.S. to share knowledge and experiences in their field. Additionally, it provides an opportunity for members to give back to the community. Consul General Somjai encouraged TABA members to contribute to society by utilizing their professional skills to provide legal knowledge and advice to those in need, especially Asian immigrants who come to the U.S. for residence, study, or work.
