On January 14, 2024, Consul General Somjai Taphaopong gave a speech to the students of the Thai Cultural Center of New York at the opening of the Center’s program for Teacher’s Day (January 16) and Children’s Day (the second Saturday of January) of Thailand. Consul General Somjai emphasized the importance of preserving Thai traditions and customs among the new generations of Thais born and raised overseas, which encompasses the use of the Thai language, the adherence to being respectful to elders, and the cultivation of gratitude. Additionally, she also imparted her blessing for them to become valuable contributors to both Thai and American societies.
