International Songkran Festival at Wat Nawamintararachutis, 2026

On Sunday, April 19, 2026, Mr. Khanthong Nuanual, Deputy Consul-General of Thailand in New York, represented Consul-General presided over the opening ceremony of the International Songkran Festival at Wat Nawamintararachutis in Boston. Ms. Thammajit Thitimonthre, Mr.Threeracht Charlie Songtechalert Honorary Vice Consul in Boston, and his wife, Mrs. Mathurot Songtechalert also join The Festival.  Following the ceremony, the Deputy Consul-General joined the Thai community in merit-making activities, including offering food to the monks. He also took this opportunity to talk to all Thai vendors and attendees, fostering a friendly atmosphere.

 

     The festival featured a variety of beautiful cultural activities from the Sunday Buddhism School, the Chiangmai Cultural Council, and local community, the pouring of scented water on Buddha statues, building sand pagodas, offering Sanghadana, and the traditional water-pouring ceremony to show respect to elders. These activities serve to preserve Thailand’s graceful customs for future generations. Additionally, the event was filled with excitement, featuring Thai and international food stalls, all of which created a vibrant atmosphere of friendship within the local Thai community. Another highlight of the event was the participation of the "Thai Cultural Ambassadors," including last year's Miss Songkran and other pageant titleholders, representing Wat Nawamintararachutis. They joined the festivities and parade in exquisite traditional Thai costumes, showcasing the beauty of Thai heritage to everyone attending the 2026 annual Songkran Festival at Wat Nawamintararachutis in Boston.
