On August 27, 2025, Ms. Somjai Taphaopong, Consul General of Thailand in New York and Ms. Katesuda Thongna, Consul together with Consulate officers, met with Mr. Eric Denson, Manager of Small Business Development at the City of Cincinnati’s Department of Community & Economic Development (DCED). The discussion focused on opportunities to enhance economic cooperation between Thailand and Cincinnati, including potential business prospects for Thai entrepreneurs in the U.S.
The DCED plays a key role in supporting investment, business development, and revitalizing City neighborhoods to strengthen Cincinnati’s economy and community by providing technical resources and building capacity programs for developers/ entrepreneurs. Mr. Denson presented the city’s growth potential in areas such as real estate, logistics, and healthcare.
During the meeting, the Consul General shared information on Thai investments in Ohio, including Bellisio Foods and PTT Global Chemical America, and also highlighted Thailand’s targeted industries for potential investment cooperation with the United States. The Consulate General expressed readiness to facilitate further collaboration in sectors of mutual interest. The discussion also touched on supporting small businesses, especially Thai restaurants in Cincinnati, and promoting Thai professionals in fields such as nursing and tourism.
In addition, on August 28, 2025, the Consul General also met with Mr. Leo Chan, Executive Director of the Asia Chamber of Commerce, a non-profit organization that connects U.S. and Asian businesses and supports trade, investment, and sister-city cooperation.
