On 15 May 2022, Deputy Consul General Jiraporn Jiranantakij attended the opening ceremony of the first annual Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Cultural and Heritage Parade organized by New York City to celebrate the AAPI Heritage Month in the US. The ceremony was presided over by Mr. Eric Adams, Mayor of New York City, and attended by distinguished guests from the US and local government, as well as member of the consular corps.

The Thai Community was well represented in this parade, demonstrating the presence of Thais in such a beautiful and cheerful manner, and receiving positive feedback from the cheering crowds who were entertained by the Thai traditional dance.

Apart from an opportunity to portray the unity of Asian Americans as part of the history of New York city, Mayor Adams also reiterated the city’s efforts to eradicate the hate crimes that have affected the AAPI communities.
