On 17 April 2022, Deputy Consul General Jiraporn Jiranantakij, along with Consul Athikom Daengpun, participated in Songkran Day (Thai New Year) organized by the Thai Cultural Center of New York. The event was attended by its board committee, faculty and members, as well as students and their parents.

On this occasion, Deputy Consul General Jiraporn greeted and wished a happy Thai new year to all participants, and also took part in the Buddha statute’s water pouring and receiving the water pouring from participants, which is a Thai traditional way of paying respect to elder persons or honoring revered persons in order to receive their blessings in return on Thai New Year Day.

Although the Center has been suspending its classes due to the COVID-19 situation, it has always been supportive to the Thai community for sending the Thai traditional dance troops to showcase in Thai events, including this event where the participants also got to enjoy the cultural acts co-performed by both teachers and students of the Center.
