On April 11, 2026, Mr. Khanthong Nuanual, Deputy Consul General in New York, represented the Royal Thai Consulate-General at the celebration of Bengali New Year 1433, organized by the Non-Resident Bangladeshis at Times Square.
On this occasion, the Deputy Consul General extended New Year greetings to over 200 members of the Bangladeshi community in New York. The event featured vibrant cultural performances and music that highlighted the rich heritage of Bangladesh.
Bengali New Year is observed around the same period as Thailand’s Songkran, along with similar New Year celebrations across South and Southeast Asia, including in Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Nepal, and parts of India. Such celebrations, organized by diverse communities in New York City, reflect the enduring presence of immigrant communities and contribute to the city’s dynamic multicultural identity.
