On September 1, 2023, Consul General Somjai Taphaopong hosted a congratulatory lunch for Assawongrat Assarangchai (Kevin), a talented young Thai flute player. He was invited to NYC to perform at the 2023 Prize Winner Recital at DiMenna Center for Classical Music on September 3, 2023, in the capacity of the Grand Prize Winner at the 2022 World Music International Competition, organized by the International Youth Music Competitions (IYMC).

 

     The Royal Thai Consulate General wishes to congratulate Assawongrat for his admirable achievement in bringing Thai flute to be appreciated on the international music stage. Our big round of applause also goes to his parents, Kwanjai and Tawatchai Assawongrat, for their dedicated support to him.
