On September 1, 2024, Miss Somjai Taphaopong, Consul General of Thailand, presided over and teed off at the 54th Annual Thai Interstate Golf Tournament. This year, the Thai Golfers Association of New York (TGANY), the host, organized the tournament at Split Rock Golf Course, with over 140 Thai competitors participating from various cities and states across the USA, including Washington D.C., Illinois, Florida, Oregon, New Jersey, and Ohio. Dr. Suriya Chindawongse, Ambassador of Thailand to the USA, was also present as an honored guest and gave brief remarks to encourage the competitors.

The support from the Royal Thai Consulate General on this occasion is part of its policy to promote unity and strength within the Thai community abroad and to foster relationships through various channels, including sports. This aligns with the objectives of the Thai Interstate Golf Tournament, which is held annually with the location rotating between West, Central, and East region, to providing a platform for Thais in the USA to build friendships and network through sports activities.

The Royal Thai Consulate General in New York takes this opportunity to commend the value of this tradition and extend its congratulations to TGANY’s golf team for winning the King Rama IX’s Cup at the tournament.
